Question:

If I use noise insulation in an engine room, how many DB can I then expect to reduce?

Answer:
In order to reduce the DB in e.g. an engine room there is actually not a very exact clear answer. The solution always depends on what type of noise to reduce, and which sound insulation- or absorbing materials to use.

Factors as air gaps, resonance sounds, and different vibrations have a great influence on the experienced soundproofing.
We would like to discuss your sound problem, after which we can advice you, which type of materials and solutions should be suited to solve your problem.

                Question 2

Question:
What type of foam insulation is the best to use in my cabin?
Answer:
It depends in any cases of what type of noise to be reduced, for example whether it is high- or low frequency noise, or if the noise is infiltrated with vibrations and resonance etc.

If you want to create the optimum cabin comfort, typically two materials (layers) are mounted.
-a heavy foil is mounted directly on the metal surface, which eliminates vibrations and structural noise.
-as a lining material, a good sound absorber is used, typically a B028 PU foam, with an adequate surface, foil or textile.

               Question 3

Question:
What type of foam is the best to use, when I need to embed the noise?

Answer
:
A lot of production equipment is noisier than the allowable, and then an acoustic control of the room is not sufficient. Often you have to embed the noise.

The embedding of noise is typically needed in connection with e.g. a generator, a CNC machine or other production equipment.
The sound insulating material, which is recommended is e.g. a bonded foam, which has a density of 130 kg./m3.

If a material, which is moisture- or oil-repellent, is needed, we will typically recommend a bonded foam attached to a thin foil, which is easy to wipe of and which keeps the foam core dry.

                 Question 4

Question:
Is there a special material that can positively be used for soundproofing in the engine compartment on a boat, and which meet the fire retardant standards at the same time?

Answer:
Yes, B6 Akustik produce 2 specially developed products, which are approved in accordance with the ISO 4589-3 and fire retardant in accordance with the US standard FMVSS-302 (both approved by Det Norske Veritas ISO 9094-1 and ISO 9094).

Type 1 - IsoFlock®: Regenerated granular foam 100 kg/m3, Fire retardant and with a strong Aluminium foil and strong adhesive.

Type 2 - IsoBoat® : Fire retardant PU foam material with a heavy foil in the middle and aluminium foil on the top.

                Question 5

Question:
Can B6 Akustik treat the surfaces on an ordinary foam material in a way that makes it dirt and oil repellent?

Answer:
Yes, B6 Akustik store many different kind of foils for example PUR and ALU, which we laminate together with the foam so that it becomes dirt and oil repellent.

Besides this solution, we are able to impregnate/seal the foam, so the material becomes water resistant - but still transparent for sound waves.

Furthermore, B6 Akustik offers to deliver the foam product with sealed edges, either as a film or with “rubber skin”.

Question 6

Question:
Can the soundproofed materials from Akustik be delivered for direct mounting on my product/project (cut in specific shapes)?

Answer
:
Yes, B6 Akustik works e.g. with CNC-controlled water jet cutting machines and we provide the typical noise-insulation products cut exact to your measurements (e.g. based on your Cad drawings).

The materials can also be supplied with adhesive tape on the backside and e.g. foil on the top - 100% ready for mounting.
